Bio
Debbie Bakel has been a self-employed, independent patineur for 8 years and is currently working directly with individual artists as well as working with foundries.
Debbie's twenty years of patina experience include 5 years working as head of the Patina department for Bronze Services of Loveland, Colorado. She has also spent the last fourteen years working with Master Patineur and Conservator Pat Kipper, in the fields of Monumental patination and the maintenance and conservation of outdoor sculpture.
Debbie's experience has allowed her to become proficient in the use of many chemicals including, but not limited to, Silver Nitrate, Bismuth Nitrate, Sodium Thio Sulfate, Cupric Nitrate, Ferric Nitrate, and various oxides. These chemicals allow her to create a broad range of effects that can mimic Marble or Granite, as well as provide beautiful mottled textures. They can also provide the means to produce more traditional patinas such as French Brown and all of its many variations.
