Maintenance and Restoration
Photo shows patinaed bronzes before and after maintenance.
Maintenance
Bronzes should be cleaned and waxed periodically in order to prolong their original appearance. It is best to have your bronze sculpture cleaned and waxed by a professional at least twice a year. Spring and Fall are the optimal times.
Why have maintenance performed on your sculpture?
The environment surrounding your artwork is a chemical one. Exposure to fertilizers, acid rain, water that falls from trees, pets and wild animals, seasalt, and ponds or pools are just some of the factors that can affect the way a bronze patina will age and change. Regular maintenance helps to prevent and control these factors.
Restoration
Restoration of a bronze that has been damaged should only be attempted by a professional. Please contact me immediately if you have a bronze that is in need of repairs.
